About Me

My photo
Warrior of Light Online When he learns to handle his sword, he discovers that his equipment has to be complete – and that includes armor. He goes out to look for armor and hears what some vendors propose to him. "Wear the breast-plate of solitude," says one. "Wear the shield of cynicism," answers another. "The best armor is not to get involved in anything," suggests a third. The warrior, however, does not listen to them. He goes serenely to his sacred place and dons the indestructible cloak of faith. Faith softens all blows. Faith changes poison into crystal-clear water. His angel whispers to him: "Yield everything." The warrior kneels down and offers his victories to God.

22 Mar - 28 Mar 2009

Sunday (22Mar) - I was feeling bored since I slept all day.
So I decided to do some exploring. Went to United Square near
the Novena MRT station. And I found this. The fountain
changed colors every few seconds. I loved the sound of the waterflow.

(While taking our lunch midweek - I saw this)
Apparently, these birds are also feeling homey,
getting their fair share of lunch.
(In the hawker place near our office bldg - Army Market)

Friday - I'm on leave.
Decided to go to the museum. Finally!
But before that - stopover at my
favorite Pinoy foodspot - Jologs
at Lucky Plaza, Orchard.
The National Museum of Singapore.
Located behind the Singapore Management University.

*feeling turista*

The first exhibit I brought myself to was by
Christian Lacroix. He's a very famous theatre costume designer.
I took this photo because of what he said in the last line -
"Theatre has become much more than a recreation,
as this art cannot bear mediocrity
or lack of passion."
...can't say anything more...except...
I think this applies to all principles of life.
The American rooster - The Japanese rooster

I think these are supposed to be Cinderella's stepsisters.

Cinderella and her prince.

Students swarmed the exhibit.
They are encouraged to sketch their own
based on Lacroix's works. Wish I could draw myself.
Theirs was a very fresh set of eyes and
poised colored pencils.
This is inspired by flamenco dancers.
I would kind of find it difficult though, dancing in these.
But I guess it would feel different if I really tried them on.
I found this set creepy.
Candles and beheaded mannequins.

This one would be heavy to strut on stage.
More difficult I would assume putting these on.
But I would love to try one of these.

This theatre dresser is lovely. Love the lighting.
Some kids were doing their drawings here.

I couldn't resist - I just had to take a picture
at the theatre dresser.

I took this picture because I think I would want
my wedding dress to look like this one,
minus the red orange lighting, of course.
I thought this lantern was interesting because of how it was labeled below.

While making my way up the galleries,
I looked up and saw the chandeliers swinging side to side.
Scared me. Found out later on that it was one of the museum's little attractions.
Inside the museum - the facade replicas the shophouses.

On my way in, into the historical gallery,
I went pass this bridgewalk where they
featured a film that showed how
the typical Singaporean day feels like.
I love the choir that sang in the background.
The music is of a composer by the name of Vladimir Martynov.
From his work - Geopolitical Utopia - inspired by the Lion City.
Singapura as it was called then was also called Temasek meaning
"sea town" in Javanese.
Saturday - I slept all day -
and woke up to see a movie.
After the movie - I noticed Mcdonald's was unusually dark.
And I remembered the Earth Hour.

Sunday, March 22, 2009

the date is 15Mar - 21Mar

Managed to catch Julianne earlier this week at the Mosaic Festival.
Just in time for "grateful" - my favorite track from her album.
Wolfgang's here too - but I passed on the Saturday free show - had somewhere to go to.

"Uncle, I'm tired-ah, Ang Mo Kio Ave 8 please, opposite the MRT station."

Finally home and resting - but have to check my feedreader....

Cathedral of Good Sheperd.
This is the church I visit everyday before I go to work.

Welcome to my office space.
That's a picture of my family.
Should have seen my desk before the Christmas holidays -
it looked nowhere near this one - 'twas a mountain of papers.

The kitchen that receives me at night to eat dinner.

Ang Mo Kio MRT station.
I live just opposite.
Very convenient.

I love my warm light.

Finally it's Saturday (and pouring) - and we're visiting
Missionaries of Charity - Home for the Elderly.
It's Lingkod's anniversary - our way of celebrating
God's generousity.

Auntie Clementine.
There is something about the
way she's all old and wrinkled
that draws my eyes to her.

Auntie Awoon.
She can't hear and barely speaks but when it comes to food, she's...
the Chili queen.

After visiting the Missionaries, decided to see
more of the city.
This is where I tasted the best Bak Kut Teh (Pork porridge)
- only because it tasted like bulalo.

Tunnel crossing to Clarke Quay.
I wanted to take a picture of the man and his guitar
while I was crossing
but he shoo-ed me.

I love looking at these shophouses in Clarke Quay.
A friend told me that these are the authentic ones they just restored
and made into a gimmick place.

More of these shophouses near Bugis Junction.

It was an eventful Saturday afternoon for me,
and I decided to look up.
It was pretty.
Was almost 8 and the sky still looked purple.

My last Saturday appointment -
Topone KTV with colleagues.
Did not manage to take a picture
of the dessert place Tong Shui Cafe we went to
near Bugis Junction - food was very interesting (in a good way).
