About Me
- Joni Gail A. Morales
- Warrior of Light Online When he learns to handle his sword, he discovers that his equipment has to be complete – and that includes armor. He goes out to look for armor and hears what some vendors propose to him. "Wear the breast-plate of solitude," says one. "Wear the shield of cynicism," answers another. "The best armor is not to get involved in anything," suggests a third. The warrior, however, does not listen to them. He goes serenely to his sacred place and dons the indestructible cloak of faith. Faith softens all blows. Faith changes poison into crystal-clear water. His angel whispers to him: "Yield everything." The warrior kneels down and offers his victories to God.

Quote for the week
“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life's realities.” (Dr. Seuss)

My God-moment
My God-moment
I'd just like to share a God-moment I experienced recently. I'm currently part of a choir in the Ang Mo Kio parish, comprised mostly of Filipinos. I joined the choir a few months after arriving in Singapore. What attracted me to join, apart from wanting to know the songs being sung during Sundays (as they do not come as common as we have it sa Pinas), was to hear more of the Psalms (as they are commonly sung during masses here).
Recently, I have been given that opportunity to cantor during masses, and the main thing is singing the psalm for that Sunday. My first psalm came in beautiful timing. It culminated a very tiresome week at work - but a very fruitful one. It was a week I felt God filled me with grace to the brim, that serving as cantor at mass that Sunday was the little that I could give back for His generousity.
I was kind of anticipating a similar experience for my second psalm - that God will usher some kind of revelation while I practice and rehearse for that Sunday's psalm. Little did I know that I will be experiencing a different kind of shock that Sunday.
I came in prepared and rehearsed. Then, when it was time to rehearse with the whole choir an hour before the mass, when the organist played the psalm, to my shock - it was a different psalm. Actually, it's the same psalm but a different arrangement. After all the rehearsing and listening to the psalm over and over again the previous week, I had no idea I will be singing a different one that Sunday. They missed to inform me that they changed the line-up. *panic attacks* *panic attacks*
I was trembling, for I did not have much time, as we were slotted to sing for another church service before the mass, so my window to rehearse was very small. The psalm was not completely alien to me though as we have sung it for quite some time in some masses so I had to bank on memory. In short - I sung it at mass, trembly but passable (I think so, I hope so).
I was laughing even before the mass started for I knew I was having a God moment. I knew I was going to experience something beautiful everytime I will be given an opportunity like this, but I did not really anticipate too much shock, but this did, literally.
Naalala ko pa sinasabi ko nung time na yun, "Lord, ano hinihingi mo sa akin?? Bakit, ano nangyayari?? Prepared nako e." I just felt God was teaching me a lesson that day.
"No matter how prepared, perfect and planned out the things you have set out for yourself, my plans for you are far more beautiful than what you have imagined for yourself, so let go and let me plan for you, and unless you do, I will always knock at your heart to let me in."
This reminded me very much of Jeremiah 29:11 (For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.)
That day, I did what I had to do. I gave it every ounce of courage I got. Difficult and scary and unsure but God wanted me whole, not half, not inches of me, but the whole of me. It wasn't perfect but it was everything I got. God may be the perfect God that He is but He appreciates all our imperfections, for as long as it was everything we have got to give.
"Lord, Thy will be done." Amen.
