Blue Bike

“The bike sitting alone, not cast off but incomplete. The rider is not evident, only implied. Incomplete, stationary, motionless, the bike sits abandoned, seemingly, for something more important. An appointment? A meal? A romantic interlude? The bike’s purpose is found in its motion, in the turning of its wheels and pedals. Sometimes our relationship with God is like this. Ours is a God of motion and change and sometimes we are distracted and separated from that. Sometimes it is important that we become aware of God by his seeming absence—the dark night of the soul. But the bike waits. The movement and adventure wait. There is no lost time. Statius is potential. Movement is actualization. All are part of God.”
